A School District’s Approach to Facility Emergency Preparedness

By Claire Pfeiffer

One of the things I appreciate most about my job is knowing that what we do helps keep people safe. Whether it’s a school, a hospital, or any facility, having clear, accessible facility information is essential for emergency preparedness.

Recently, I worked with a school district to build out their Emergency tab—a dedicated space in their digital library where all critical safety documents live.

Once we had that in place, they used the Markup Feature in our Document Module to flag essential safety locations right on their building drawings. We created a clear, easy-to-understand key, and they marked:

  • Water shutoff valves
  • Gas shutoff valves
  • Fire extinguisher locations
  • Sprinkler controls
  • Roof access points

While this project was with a school district, the same tools apply to any facility that wants to stay prepared. When it comes to school facility emergency preparedness, success isn’t just about checking a box, it’s about making sure the people who manage your buildings have the resources they need to respond quickly and confidently when it matters most.

Helping this school set up a secure, accessible home for documents that keep their students, teachers, and employees prepared, that’s work I’m proud of.
